Nearly A Year On

It is now fast approaching a year since I was released from Mona Vale Hospital after spending close to 3 months in there, the first week in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and then the next two weeks in the surgical ward and then the net 2 months in the rehabilitation unit, things are starting to slowly come back to normal.

I am still not pain free, not by a long shot. I am still on Endone and OxyContin several times a day, but now slowly reducing the amounts so I can get off them as there is now an addiction there after being on them for close to 12 months. I was on them daily in hospital with a shot of morphine every 3 hours at the same time.

From the time of being discharged from hospital I have been in a temporary unit on the Central Coast. Housing NSW will soon make an offer of my own unit once my health is back to near normal. So maybe another couple of months yet. But it has been great not having to sleep rough anymore. I don’t think I would be able to cope too well with that at the moment with the way my health is.

Even now I hardly get much sleep due to my constant pain. I may get about 2 hours sleep a night and several hours throughout the day. Maybe once I week my body just shuts down and I sleep on and off for nearly 24 hours. Your body just gets to the stage like a computer where it needs to shutdown. Not just reboot.

Right now I have just had some pain killers (and it’s nearly 5am). So I am hoping I can get a couple of hours sleep soon and recoup for the day. Anyway, that is enough for now. I will write again soon.

On a final note. To anyone I missed Merry Christmas and I hope you had a fantastic Christmas with your friends and family. Another year until we do it all over again.
