New Medication

Last night I began several new medications. And one of them gave me a major headache for several hours upon waking up this morning. What a killer of a headache it was too, I haven’t had one like it for some time now.

The first new medication is to help with my high cholesterol, even though my levels have dropped to what they used to be it hasn’t come down enough to make the Doctors happy. So, as a result, I have now been put on 80mg of Lipitor a day. I know this medication works as I used to be on it a long time ago, but as I was on the streets it was hard to maintain. Where now I have no issues in keeping it and taking it.

The other medication is called Lamictal and I have to take one morning and night and it is a 50mg chewable tablet. This is to help with one of my mental health conditions, namely my bipolar. This is the new medication that caused the major headache this morning. The medication can also make you drowsy and for once a medication that said that did work for me last night. I posted a post to Facebook about taking my first dose of it last night and a friend in the United States mentioned in a comment that his wife takes the same medication.

This morning due to the major headache I spoke to them both and found out that she also had the same problem when she first started taking it. And that it only lasted about a week. That isn’t too bad I can handle that. But she has been on it for around a year now (and for the same condition I have) and it is working great for her. So I am now hopeful that it might actually work for me also. But I now have to get a setup around my home somewhere to keep all my medication in the same place (and I have the perfect place in mind if I can make it work somehow) because at the moment they are just scattered in various places around the unit. This is something I will work on this afternoon.

The amount of medication I am taking is beyond a joke. You could literally turn me upside down and I would shake like a babies rattle. But just as with my housing situation I am also determined to get in control of all my health issues as well even though it is going to be a very long and rocky road ahead. The thing that is helping is that I am getting out of my home several times a week now and this is helping me with my depression. It isn’t helping too much with my anxiety and social phobia as I am now getting out in public but my medication is helping with this.

I am about to head out in 15 minutes for a bit of an op shop trip around and to have an early lunch at Red Rooster with a quick trip to Officeworks in between (which is right near the op shop I am going to). I have to buy a 6 point power adapter, my 4 point is just not big enough for everything that I need in my cornered home office at the moment and I don’t want cords running across the floor as it is a tripping hazard for me and anyone else that comes into my home. There is more stuff that I need to write about on some other topics so I will do that when I get back home in a few hours. So, for now, I will speak to you all very soon.
